Green Lawns vs. Maintained Homes

Green Lawns vs. Maintained Homes

Water conservation is on everyone’s mind as the rates continue to increase and the concern over the lack of water in Colorado rises. As summer gets underway we will once again be living with suggested water restrictions.
What does Canterberry HOA expect of homeowners? Well-maintained homes and lots!...NOT lush green lawns. There is a big difference between the two. Yes, a green lawn requires water that may not be available must most lot and home maintenance needed to keep our community looking nice does not require water.
Water is not needed to keep our homes in good repair and put away items when not in use. Water is not needed to prune shrubs and trees or to pull weeds or remove dead plant material. Well, there will be a little water in the form of sweat while we do the work!
The Homeowners Association is not supportive of any homeowners who choose to water more than they should as such abuse is just not necessary. We want everyone’s yards to survive and understand that some may not thrive. Suggested water restrictions do not give any homeowner permission to turn off the water completely. This action will not be supported by the HOA. As there is a difference between a well-maintained property and a green lawn, there is also a difference between a lawn that is surviving and one that is dying.
A dying lawn is not in the best interest of the homeowner. It costs more to replace a dead lawn than to maintain what your currently have. A healthy properly maintained lawn is the first defense and most effective barrier against one of the most drought resistant plants there are, WEEDS!
Maintain your property, mow your lawn, pull your weeds and remove dead trees, put items away when not in use and even with water conservation Canterberry will look great for years to come.
